Grant Amount
- Students who are eligible for the YFU Community Grant will receive a $1,000 discount on their program tuition.
Eligibility
- The YFU Community Grant is available to alumni, their children, and children of qualified host families and volunteers (must have hosted or volunteered for at least 6 months prior to departure.
- Open to students applying to any YFU program (excluding Adult Study Tours).
- Grant will be awarded to all qualifying students upon acceptance to YFU program and verification of Grant eligibility.
- Year and semester students must hold a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, summer students must maintain a minimum of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale in order to be considered eligible.

Grant Covers partial tuition, which includes:
- Round-trip international travel
- Round-trip domestic travel
- Placement with a carefully selected host family
- Regional orientation for scholarship recipients and parents
- Preparatory materials
- Support services in host country
- Tuition balance not covered by the grant is due in accordance with YFU payment deadlines
Grant Recipients are Responsible for:
- Passport
- Visa fees (if necessary)
- Any excess luggage tariffs
- Required overseas medical insurance (many insurance policies will cover students while traveling abroad)
- Personal spending money
- Upon returning home, scholarship winners are expected to complete at least one presentation in their school or community to share their experiences, teach others about the culture in their host country, and encourage other students to participate in foreign exchange.
- Tuition balance not covered by scholarship is due two weeks after award notification
NOTE:
- All applicants will be notified by email of their status.
