We invite applications for a PhD position with the project title: ‘The responsibility of food companies for healthy food innovations: motivations, drivers and barriers for responsible innovation in the Dutch food sector’. The project combines normative-philosophical analysis regarding the responsibility of companies for healthy food (normative ethics) with qualitative empirical studies (descriptive ethics) to investigate the motivations, social-ethical and economic drivers and barriers for food companies to invest in responsible innovations for healthy food, and the direct or indirect impact of front of pack logos for healthy food on companies’ contribution to public health. This multi-disciplinary research project combines management science, business and innovation ethics and food technology and nutritional innovations. Various research methods will be applied, such as normative analysis, focus groups and interviews. To overcome gaps in knowledge and/or skills, relevant courses will be offered.
