How to apply
An online application system is available on the website where the application form, the CV, the motivation lettre, the research plan and the two recommendation letters must be uploaded. The complete documentation must be sent by post to the TEMA consortium coordinator:

Applicants must send their application package before January 26, 2015 (date of postmark). The online application will be closed on January 26, 2015 24.00 CET.

Please note that incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration. Shortlisted candidates may be phone or Skype interviewed by a member of the TEMA Academic Board.Check-list of documents required for application:

- copy of passport or ID card (students from Schengen countries), with validity end date,
- certified copy of the diploma which entitles you to enrol in TEMA Master Course, with certified translation if the language of diploma is not English, French, Italian, Czech or Hungarian,
- copy of any other diploma,
- certified copy of language test results in English or in French,
- copy of any other language test results,
- CV in English or in French (download form and language assessment grid), including publications,
- motivation letter in English or in French (1 to 2 pages),
- study/research plan in English or in French (5 to 8 pages, plus a selective bibliography) related to the subject of thesis.
How to write a research plan?
- two references, sined and sealed (download form).
Applications will be evaluated by the Academic Board on the basis of the set of criteria as follows:
- study/research plan : up to 20 points ;
- CV including work experience : up to 10 points ;
- diploma that entitles you to enrol in the TEMA Master Course : up to 4 points ;
- references : up to 3 points each = up to 6 points ;
- langue skills – up to 10 points, of which :
– for English : up to 3 points according to the score you got at the language exam,
– for French : up to 3 points according to the score you got at the language exam,
– for other languages, especially for Italian, Hungarian or Czech : up to 4 points.
N. B. In the category of other languages, no points for your mother tongue.
Total : 50 points.
The selected applicants will be informed about the selection results at the end of May 2015.
Please note that selected candidates’ data may be used for the purposes of evaluating the Erasmus Mundus Programme and will be made available to the EACEA, the Erasmus Mundus National Structures, the EU Delegations and the Erasmus Mundus Student and Alumni Association.

Admission requirements
The same admission requirements apply to European and third country students.
Degree requirement
The Master TEMA aims at students with a first degree (BA/BSc /180 ECTS/) in History, Geography, Philosophy, Anthropology, Ethnography, Sociology, Cultural Studies, Urban Studies, Nationalism Studies, International Relations, Law, Economy, Architecture and Administration.
In case of obtaining the diploma only after the deadline of application, it is possible to send its certified copy later. Nevertheless, in this case, the candidate has to provide in the application package an official certificate from his / her university testifying the studies and also has to indicate the precise date of getting the diploma. The same rules apply for language test results.
Work experienceNo work experience is required for admission to Master TEMA. However, professional experience in a field related to the Master Course is an asset.
Research subject
The applicant has to choose a research subject in accordance with the TEMA Erasmus Mundus Master Course’s curriculum (this is an essential condition).

Language competences
As the TEMA Master Course is provided in English and in French, proficiency in these languages is a must. To apply, the candidates must dispose of a language certificate of both from English and French: one of them must be of an advanced level and the other may be of a more elementary level, which can be also set out by the candidate’s university or department. The following English language tests are accepted:
- TOEFL: paper based: 580 or above
computer based: 237 or above
internet based: 92 or above

Please note that TOEFL is only valid for 2 years. Any certificate expiring before September 1st of the applicant’s first year in TEMA Master Course will not be accepted.
- Cambridge Proficiency Examination: C or above
- Cambridge Advanced English Test: B or above

The following French language tests are accepted :
- DELF: minimum level is A2

Master TEMA does not require a language test certificate from applicants:
· whose native language is either English or French,
· holding a diploma/degree delivered by a college, high school or higher education institution (such as A levels, baccalaureate, BA/BSc etc.) in which the language of instruction is English or French,
· who have FLE (teaching French as a foreign language) or TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) qualification.
Please note that a certificate for the other language is required.
Applicants holding a certificate in English or in French that is nationally recognized in their country must request a validation of it by the TEMA Secretary. However, national certificates must be at least of advanced level and evidence the holder’s both oral and written skills. Knowledge of other European languages, especially Italian, Czech or Hungarian is an asset.
References
Two references, signed and sealed must be attached to the application. Referees can be either scholars or professionals of related fields, who know well the applicant (see attached form).

The same selection criteria apply both for admission to the Master Course and admission to an Erasmus Mundus scholarship. Applicants will be shortlisted in absolute ranking order, according to the above mentioned procedures. The best applicants will be awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
However, a few additional criteria apply for students who wish to obtain an Erasmus Mundus scholarship:
- the number of applications must be limited to maximum three different Erasmus Mundus Master Courses ;
- individuals who have already benefited from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship are not eligible for a second scholarship in order to follow the same or another Erasmus Mundus Master Course ;
- students benefiting from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship can not be awarded another Community grant ;
- Erasmus Mundus scholarships are awarded exclusively for a full-time enrolment in one of the course editions ;
- without prejudice to high academic standards, the consortium respects equality issues, such as equal gender participation, equal opportunity, including students with special needs, and geographical diversity : No more than two of the students selected for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship should have the same nationality.
Selected candidates will receive a notification letter and selection results will be published on the TEMA website in May 2015.
